My 20-Year Journey in Technical Storytelling

If there is one thing I have learned since I first stepped into a classroom to teach programming in 2004, it is that adaptability is the ultimate technical skill.

My career has not been a straight line. It has been an evolution from understanding how machines work to understanding how to make that information resonate with people.

Here is the story of how I built my career, starting with my technical roots in our humble province to managing global digital properties today.

The Foundation: Teaching the Logic

My journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree.

I did not just want to use technology because I wanted to understand its architecture. This led me to my first professional role as a Computer Science Instructor.

Teaching programming logic and database management forced me to take complex or abstract concepts and break them down into something digestible.

This experience became the blueprint for my entire career.

The Frontlines: Humanizing Technical Support

In 2007, I transitioned into the high stakes world of global business process outsourcing with Convergys and TeleTech.

This was my boots on the ground era.

Handling tier 1 and tier 2 connectivity troubleshooting for international ISPs taught me that technical support is ten percent fixing the connection and ninetypercent managing the human experience.

I learned how to negotiate billing disputes and solve problems under pressure while always keeping the human first perspective front and center.

The Pivot: The Leap into Digital Content

By 2009, I saw the digital landscape shifting.

I took my technical background and my problem solving experience to the world of freelance writing.

I spent three years on platforms like Upwork and even DigitalPoint forums, providing SEO-related tasks and quality articles for clients worldwide.

This was where I sharpened my instincts for keyword research and learned how to write for both search engines and real people.

The Authority Era: 13 Years of Tech Journalism

In 2012, I began a chapter that would span over a decade.

While managing online publications like TheDroidGuy.com, iKream.com, and TheCellguide.com, I authored and edited over 5,000 unique technical articles.

The digital world changed a lot in those 13 years, but I stayed consistent by:

  • Navigating Algorithms: I kept our publications at high authority status despite constant Google updates.
  • Embracing Video: I pioneered our transition into multimedia by scripting and producing faceless YouTube tutorials that simplified complex mobile issues for millions of viewers.
  • Mastering the Ecosystem: I managed the full lifecycle of our content from SEO strategy to community moderation on Facebook.

The Present: Building My Own Digital Footprint

Today, I am focused on taking everything I have learned about technical logic, SEO mastery, and storytelling and applying it to my own independent portfolio.

Through Chronicles & Coordinates and Asian Inquirer, I am growing niche communities by leveraging original storytelling and high engagement visuals.

My Philosophy

I bridge the gap between technical logic and human connection.

Whether I am troubleshooting a broken line of code or documenting a 181-step pilgrimage in the Philippines, my goal remains the same.

I aim to find the story that resonates and the fix that lasts because at the end of the day, even the most sophisticated technology is only as powerful as the human connection it enables.
